The vanguard or front division of the Akan military formation, which became a division of the traditional state. Its head, the Adontenhene, 'goes in front of the army', alongside the Nifa (right), Benkum (left) and Kyidom (rear) divisions.
The Adontenhene led the Adonten division in the procession.
