Fante religious institution of spirit possession that mediates between the abosom (deities) and the community. Ceremonies with rhythmically dense drumming (ansaba, asafokyen and ampaa drums, adawur bells) and a male chorus allow the deity to communicate through a possessed priest or priestess (ɔkomfo).
