Akple is a staple Ewe food of stiff cooked dough. Westermann (1905) glosses akplé as 'cooked dumplings of maize flour, rice or millet' and records phrases for cooking it, plus molikple, an akple made from rice. It is still listed as a traditional food in Anlo towns such as Anyako.
Akple is often eaten with soup.
