The head of a Ga asafo, the militia company of a quarter, responsible for mobilising its men and for public order during festivals. The office is hereditary within particular lineages of the akutso. Asafoatsɛmɛi carry the company's flags and lead its processions.
The Asafoatse leads the quarter's men in the Homowo procession through Ga Mashie.
