The tallest drum of the Ewe ensemble, leaning on a stand and played standing with stick and hand. It is the master drum, signalling changes of section, calling dancers and conversing with the supporting drums. Only experienced drummers play it.
The atsimevu calls the dancers in and cuts the ensemble off at the close.
