Builsa names both the area and the people (Bulsa) of the Builsa North (capital Sandema) and Builsa South (capital Fumbisi) districts of the Upper East Region. The Bulsa are farmers and herders who speak Buli, and they neighbour and intermarry with the Kasena and Nankani.
Builsa communities around Sandema resisted Babatu's slave raids.
