Dagomba smocks (bim'manga, singular bim'mangli) are made from narrow woven strips of cloth sewn together. Fusheini and Adu-Agyem (2019) show that the smock distinguishes chiefs from commoners and marks chiefly rank, and describe a white ceremonial chief's gown, the nam-kparugu.
The new chief appeared in a white ceremonial smock.
