Town elder serving on the local governing council. Westermann (1905) glosses dumegã as an elder who is a member of the town authority, with dumegãwo meaning the council of elders or judges. Chapman (1944) describes dumegawo as the most prominent and public-spirited townspeople, generally appointed to the councils of the dufiawo.
The dumegãwo advised the dufia on town affairs.
