Head of a stool's dzaase (electoral body). Field (1940) describes the dzasetse as drawn from one of the royal houses and notes that many dzasetsemei perform the enstooling ceremony, though in Asere this falls to the stool wulɔmɔ. Present-day usage glosses the title as 'Principal Kingmaker'.
The dzasetse announced that a candidate would be presented the next day.
