The matrilineal clan through which Fante descent, inheritance and stool succession pass. A person belongs to the mother's ebusua for life, and marriage within it is prohibited. The seven principal Fante abusua include Anona, Nsona, Twidan and Kwonaa.
A child belongs to the mother's ebusua, and inherits from the mother's brother.
