A popular secular dance-drumming of the Anlo-Ewe, performed at weddings, funerals and other celebrations. C. K. Ladzekpo traces it to Gun-Gbe speakers of Ketonu in Benin. From there it spread to Badagry in south-western Nigeria, where migrant Ewe fishermen learned it and brought it to Anlo; Ladzekpo saw it arrive in Anyako in 1952.
Gahu reached Anyako in the early 1950s with returning fishermen.
