Gologo

Kasem · Kassena-Nankani / Upper East · Festival

A festival of the Talensi and neighbouring peoples of the Upper East, held in the dry season before the rains as an appeal for a good farming year. It involves rites at the Tongnaab shrine and at lineage shrines, with drumming and dancing at Tongo. The name refers to the period of hunger preceding harvest.

Gologo is observed at Tongo in the lean months before the rains.
