A double-headed cylindrical drum of Dagbon fitted with a snare, played with a curved stick. It supplies the driving pulse beneath the lunga in Damba, Takai and Baamaaya. Its players are organised under the Gungon Naa.
The gungon snare cuts through the lunga voices and keeps the dancers together.
