Gurunsi (Grunshi) is an umbrella name for a set of loosely related peoples of northern Ghana and Burkina Faso who speak related Gur languages but share no common language. The Kassena and Nankani, who live on both sides of the border, are counted among them; Visonà et al. call the Nankani 'a Gurunsi people' and name the Nuna and Winiama as Gurunsi neighbours of the Bwa.
The Kassena are counted among the Gurunsi peoples of the Ghana–Burkina Faso borderlands.
