Kɔnu means custom or tradition, especially inherited practices observed within a family or community. Westermann glosses kɔnu as 'überlieferter Familienbrauch' (handed-down family custom), alongside kɔnyinyi, 'the observance of customs handed down in a family'.
Elders were consulted on the kɔnu to be observed during the outdooring.
