Kadia (also Kandia) is named as one of the original seven Gonja divisions that tradition says Jakpa gave to his sons, with Wasipe, Kpembe, Bole, Tuluwe, Kong and Kusawgu. It later ceased to provide candidates for the Yagbon paramountcy.
Accounts of Gonja succession explain that Kadia no longer provides candidates for the Yagbon skin.
