The Kadiawura is the chief of Kadia (Kandia), one of the seven original Gonja divisions whose chiefs could once succeed to the Yagbonwura paramountcy. Tradition holds that Kadia and Kong were later excluded from the rotation; a 2010 account says the Kongwura and Kadiawura have since taken seats on the Gonja Traditional Council.
The Kadiawura holds a seat on the Gonja Traditional Council though his division no longer rotates to the Yagbon skin.
