A recreational drum and dance form created by Ga youth in Accra around 1960, associated with the La and Bukom neighbourhoods. It draws on older Ga rhythms such as Kolomashie and Oge while absorbing the energy of the highlife era. Initially censured by authorities as indecent, it was later embraced as a national form.
Kpanlogo drums set up on a Bukom street corner still draw a crowd on a Sunday evening.
