The hourglass tension drum of Dagbon, held under the arm and squeezed to bend the pitch in imitation of speech tone. It is the instrument of the lunsi and the vehicle of Dagbani drum language. The plural lunsi denotes both the drums and their players.
The lunga is squeezed under the arm so the drum speaks the praise name aloud.
