A dye pit: the place where cloth is dyed, usually with indigo. Robinson records marina as 'a dye pit' and marini as 'a dyer', both from rina, 'to dye'. He also gives karofi (Kano) for dye pits, with kurdin karofi, a tax on dye pits.
Cloth was taken to the marina to be dyed in indigo.
