In Akan religion the Nsamanfo are the ancestors, who dwell in Asamando, the land of the spirits. The sunsum of a deceased person passes to Asamando, where it awaits nomination to the status of Nsamanfo; proper funeral rites are needed for this passage.
Libations were poured to the Nsamanfo.
