Otublohum is one of the historic quarters (akutsei) of central Accra, counted by Potočnik (2017) among the quarters of Kinka (Dutch Accra) together with Asere, Abola and Gbese. Field (1940) describes the quarter as consisting of people of Akwamu origin who retained many Akwamu customs, records that a party of Denkyira people attached to the Dutch also became part of it, and notes that its stool brought the number of mantsɛ stools in Accra to five. Potočnik (2017) records that the Akwamu settlers of Otublohum brought Akan traditions such as the Odwira (Odzra) ceremony with them.
Otublohum is listed among the old quarters of central Accra.
