The first main day of the Damba festival. Chernoff's informant in 'A Drummer's Testament' (ch. II-17) says: 'On the eleventh day of the Damba month is the Somo Damba or small Damba'; the Naa Damba comes later. Rashid (2019) links the name to Somo, the title of a palace elder, and calls Somo Damba the 'first Damba', held on the day believed to be the Prophet's birthday.
Somo Damba falls on the eleventh day of the Damba month.
