Te Za is the yam festival (te 'yam' + za 'festival') of the Asogli State, celebrated every September by its chiefs (Togbewo and Mamawo) and people to thank God, the gods and the ancestors for a good harvest and to pray for health and prosperity. The Ghana Tourism Authority describes its origin story of a hunter who found yams during a famine, and says the Ewe brought the festival with them from Notse.
Te Za is celebrated in Ho each September.
