Teshie is a coastal Ga town east of Accra, now within the Ledzokuku Municipal District of the Greater Accra Region and one of the independent towns of the Ga State that celebrates Homowo. Zimmermann (1858) lists it as a town ('Teši') east of Osu and records distinct pronunciations of 'the Teši-people'. Local tradition reported on Wikipedia holds that the original Teshie people came from La; Venkatachalam (2011) describes Teshi as a neighbourhood of Accra known for its spirit mediums.
