Tsɔfa is the Ga word for medicine. Zimmermann (1858) glosses it 'literally root of a tree, plant etc.; medicine; poison; any strong drug; powder of any kind, but especially gunpowder', and lists many derivatives, including tsofatsɛ 'possessor of medicine; doctor'.
The healer prepared a tsɔfa from roots.
