The tsiami is the spokesman or linguist of a king or chief, through whom the ruler speaks in formal settings. Westermann records the forms tsiame, tsyiame, tsyeame and otsyeame, marked as borrowed from Twi (Akan ɔkyeame).
The chief's words were relayed to the visitors by the tsiami.
