Tufuhen is a Fante spelling of tufohene, the overall commander ('master of arms') of the asafo companies of a Fante town or state, compared to an army general above the supi. Aggrey (1978) describes him as military advisor to the chief.
The tufuhen gave orders to the asafo captains.
