Vodou tradition

Ewe · Haiti (with West African Vodun roots) · Spiritual

Vodou is described by Britannica as a syncretism of the West African Vodun religion and Roman Catholicism, developed by descendants of Dahomean, Kongo, Yoruba and other peoples enslaved and transported to colonial Saint-Domingue (Haiti). The term is used in contrast to the West African Vodun/vodu traditions of Gbe-speaking peoples, including Ewe.

Scholars distinguish Haitian Vodou from Ewe vodu practice.
