Zikpui means stool or seat; as a chieftaincy term it denotes the stool. Westermann records tɔgbuizikpui, the ancestral stool inherited and held sacred, and zikpuitsɔla, the chief's stool-bearer, normally a relative of the chief, and proverbs such as 'sitting on a big stool is not yet ruling'.
The zikpui was carried in the procession by the stool-bearer.
